Eh, it's just something I strive for and try to keep somewhere in the back of my mind I guess. I think of crazy ways I could try to make money off of my art all the time, it's really only human.

It's tough.

money, money, money, money. @_@;

Sounds like you're well on the right track as concerns artistry. I'd like to say i think like you do all the time, but i admit there are times when i waver from the path of being a true artist and think about money and fame. I guess you're a stronger man than I! :D

I think that once you draw specifically with the motive to sell something to someone, or produce something solely for the purpose of appealing to the masses you need to step back and really reevaluate what you are doing.

I'm not saying that creating commercial art is a bad thing, it's great. I'm saying you just need to be able to keep yourself in check, if you find you are drawing something completely boring and stale... turn it around and find something positive to take and apply elsewhere in your art so as to continue to grow as an artist.

I really should value that freedom, though as I'm not aggressively pursuing a career in art at the moment,
I have plenty of time to just muck around with my own ideas :p.

"For me it comes down to where I am with my art. I always draw with myself in mind (selfish I know), it's fun to experiment with new styles and try different things in an attempt to improve and find a style of your own."

Couldn't have put it better myself. I think that you draw for yourself is a really positive way of working - i'd like to be that way myself, but so far i haven't quite got there.

"I just struggle when it comes to drawing or referring to topics (such as anime) that I don't really have any extended interest in."

I'm similar with topics i'm not interested in, too... i think seeing as neither of us are drawing for profit (at the moment!), we can pretty much draw what we like. I'm sure when i'm employed i'll be drawing all sorts of crap that bores me rigid, so i ought to appreciate this period of freedom while i'm in it.

"If you are interested in anime, boobs and anime boobs. I say go for it! :thumbsup: xD"

*grins* Thankyou. I've been leaning more towards video game style art recently, but i'm sure that eventually my testosterone will kick in and i'll start drawing mature artwork again. :D

For me it comes down to where I am with my art. I always draw with myself in mind (selfish I know), it's fun to experiment with new styles and try different things in an attempt to improve and find a style of your own.

I just struggle when it comes to drawing or referring to topics (such as anime) that I don't really have any extended interest in.

I would rather take my art in the direction I'm wanting to go with it, rather than learn how to draw in a certain style simply because it is what has become popular.

If you are interested in anime, boobs and anime boobs. I say go for it! :thumbsup: xD

a) You're welcome! It's refreshing to meet someone who is comfortable with where they are as an artist, and know how proficient they are. Although a lot of people would say 'draw what you're not comfortable with to improve', sometimes artistry isn't about improvement, it's about expression.

b) Ah, i see! Yes, there's no beating around the bush with 'Cut Man' as a title. He's a cut man, a man who cuts. Cutting is what this man does. If you're planning on a series of Megaman tie-ins, i'd be interested to see what you make of 'Guts Man'.

c) Thankyou. Not sure it'll be entirely to your taste, but there's a lot of work in there so there might be something of interest to you.

Thanks a lot really appreciate the support. I'm not the anime sort of guy, can't draw the stuff, so I stick to what I feel comfortable with (for the most part).

For whatever reason I felt compelled to draw a man with large shears for hands. The name "Cut Man" only seemed fitting, fully aware of it's ties to the megaman franchise. It was actually the start of a few pieces I planned on doing, loosely affiliated with megaman boss names.

Thanks again for the comment, I'll be sure to check out your gallery.

Yo. Just had a look through the gallery - some really nice pencil work in there. Plus, respect to you for not selling out and drawing what's popular, (i.e. anime). Being an avid supporter of both animé, boobs, and animé boobs, i can't say the same for myself, but it's nice to see that not everyone in the world is a sell-out jerkface like myself.

BTW, you may be interested to know that 'Cut Man' was a boss in the very first Megaman game. He's adorable, despite running about the place with scissors (attached to his head).

BC is pretty alright.

We get a groovy festival this year. @_@;
So I am happy. Though its cost is making my credit card very unhappy.
